If you’re like me, you’ve been through many iterations of self. And I’m sure you’ve experienced grief and loss because its part of being human. Spirituality and mental health are deeply intwined. Spiritual therapy invites us to slow down and consider who we are, what is important to us, and more importantly how we want to move forward with our body-soul connection.
There is nothing like a major life change and significant stressors to call our identity and coping skills into question. And it’s normal; humans have been navigating sadness, exhaustion and change since the beginning of time. Sometimes though, we need help to identify what is happening for us; sometimes we need help processing our expereinces; sometimes, because of trauma and maladaptive patterns, we are at risk of harm because we don’t have the supports to make it home to where peace lives in us.
This has been my work for the past 10 years. I’ve learned so much through walking with families in their most vulnerable moments: in hospital, through death, through marriage and separation, through parenting, and through reflecting on their personal histories and intent.
As my work expands from providing spiritual care to educating spiritual care providers to working in my private therapy practice, I count it a priveledge and a joy to help others heal and discover their beloved true selves.
